Terms of Use

The agreement between you and PayOwed. Effective September 6, 2026.

What PayOwed is

PayOwed is a free tool that estimates the gross pay for a single shift from figures you type in. There is no account, no fee and no purchase. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, please do not use it.

Estimates only — not legal, tax or payroll advice. This calculator is informational and does not provide legal, tax or payroll advice. Nothing here creates a professional relationship of any kind, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for advice from your employer, your payroll department, your union representative, an accountant or a lawyer.

Accuracy, and what actually governs your pay

The result depends entirely on the numbers you enter and on the simplified rules the calculator applies. It cannot know your employer's pay policies, your union agreement, how your timekeeping system rounds hours, which premiums stack, how your regular rate is computed for overtime, or the rules of your jurisdiction. Overtime figures are labelled "estimated" for exactly that reason.

Your employer's pay stub and pay policies govern what you are actually paid. If this calculator and your pay stub disagree, the pay stub — and the agreements and law behind it — is what counts. Use the estimate as a prompt to ask a question, not as proof of an amount owed.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation will match your actual pay.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PayOwed is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost wages, lost income, lost profits or lost data, arising out of your use of or reliance on the site or any estimate it produces. Because the site is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you.

Acceptable use

Use the site for your own pay estimates, or on behalf of people whose pay you are responsible for. Please do not: attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure; scrape it automatically at a volume that degrades it for others; submit an email address that is not yours; or use the site in a way that breaks the law or infringes someone else's rights. We may block access that does any of these.

The site's content, code and branding remain ours. The figures you enter and the results you get are yours to use however you like.

Changes to the site and to these terms

The site is under active development: features, calculators and the waitlist may change or be withdrawn at any time. We may also update these terms — when we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except where the mandatory law of your own country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

Questions about these terms go to support@payowed.app. How we handle data is covered separately in the privacy policy .
